Does Green Wall Coffee have a toilet and tap water?
Yes, there is a customer toilet. A glass of tap water is available on request at any time, and with an espresso we serve it without being asked.
The toilet
There is a toilet for guests. It is not accessible, however — details under Is Green Wall Coffee wheelchair accessible?
Why water belongs with an espresso
A glass of water alongside an espresso is not a courtesy but a practical matter: it neutralises the palate before the first sip. Drink water first and you taste considerably more of the espresso — particularly with lighter roasts carrying fruity or floral notes.
That is why we put it down with every espresso unasked. With any other drink, tap water is available on request, free of charge.
In practice at Green Wall Coffee
Berlin tap water is hard — at the tap in Sophienstraße 27 we are at around 430 ppm of dissolved minerals. For drinking that is entirely unproblematic. For brewing coffee it is too much, which is why the water for espresso and filter runs through a reverse osmosis system. Details under What water does Green Wall Coffee use?
